As part of International Women’s Day, Concentric are hosting an exhibition at West Wharf Gallery in Cardiff, South Wales featuring a selection of female artists. Amongst them is my collaborator, Zoë Gingell, who has chosen to present a revised version of Sanctury.
I composed and recorded original sound art for the installation in 2016. With the help of visual artist, Joe Marvelly, Sanctury has now been adapted into a 15 minute video art piece.
“Concentric – a group of women artists who since 2015 have celebrated IWD by producing a variety of work based on strong, thought-provoking ideas celebrating the essences of women negotiating the influences of personal and societal history” – Jacqueline Alkema

A new composition of mine is being debuted at Støyal Jul at Hausmania’s Flerbrukshallen in Oslo on Friday the 14th of December 2018. The currently unmastered recording of my new 19 minute drone piece for solo pipe organ, titled Eldsfare Norn, will be played in full, for the first time as part of the event.
Mad thanks to Fredrik Fossum for the invitation and Thomas Holme for putting on the event: https://www.facebook.com/events/253339245323055/

I am very happy to share with you the new album RED, by my long term collaborator Hervé Girardin, aka, Nevsky Perspective. I was a fixed member of the live Nevsky Perspective line-up throughout 2 periods over the last 5 years (performing alongside Joel Sinclare aka LOFT).
The album was recorded over the course of 2 years across various locations and features only one musical performance by myself. Alongside the great Mr. Jack Rees, I was a contributing engineer on the guitar recording sessions as well as sourcing guitars, amps, effects and endless good will from http://www.circuitsweet.co.uk and http://www.42ndstreetguitars.com
Out of every band I have played in over the last 14 years, I can honestly say I have never missed playing with any band so much.
Some of my pictures from our studio sessions:
Earlier this year I conducted an interview with Hervé about the album. Check it out here:

Back in November 2016 I was commissioned by Artist, Stefhan Caddick and Dr. Victoria Donovan to write, record and perform a re-scoring of Dziga Vertov’s 1931 film Enthusiasm: Symphony of the Donbass, as part of their soviet arts and history event, Enthusiasm.
Enthusiasm is now going to Scotland. On the 2nd of May I will be joining Stefhan and Victoria at the University of St. Andrews in Fife as part of the Byre World Event. I’ll be presenting clips of the film and new soundtrack alongside a discussion of the compositional process.
Entrance is free and details are here:
On the 4th of May we head to Edinburgh where I will be screening a 40 minute extract of the film with new soundtrack at The Dashkova Centre in The University of Edinburgh. Details of the event are available here: https://www.ed.ac.uk/literatures-languages-cultures/dashkova/news-events/events/enthusiasm-film-live-music-hughesovka

Select images from my ÉN TI project will be exhibited at the Andrew Buchan gallery space in Cardiff, South Wales from next week. My good friend, John Wilson, curator of the venue and gallery, will be alternating select images throughout the exhibition period alongside other artists.
John is doing fantastic things at Andrew Buchan. It’s a venue I have played a handful of times and have very warm memories of. So I’m delighted to have my works on display there.
The show opens with almost a full gallery of my images which will be hung for the foreseeable future. For more details of the project, please see the ÉN TI page under the Works tab. For venue and event details, please see their Facebook page:
So I’m a bit late to the party with this one. Some 2 years ago I took a picture of my long term collaborator, Hervé Girardin of Nevsky Perspective, sitting on his Cardiff windowsill, looking emo. The image turned out pretty well and I told him to use it for whatever.
Low and behold he used it as the single cover for his track La Bouche Des Autres, released under the name Antonie Antonie and released it on Cavalierosity records back in November 2016. I only just found out about it.
Check out the single here: https://cavalierosityrecords.bandcamp.com/album/antonie-antonie-la-bouche-des-autres-single

Check out more releases on Cavalierosity, on the Bandcamp page. Founded by another collaborator of mine, Jack Rees (see Origami Reinkarnasjon in Works).
The very good people at Cardiff MADE gallery have hosted this lovely video of the House MADE installation/residency I was part of back in November 2016. I was commissioned by Zoë Gingell, director of Cardiff MADE gallery in South Wales to create an original, 8-speaker sound-art piece that spanned the full 3 hour duration of the event throughout 2 floors of the house.
I made original sound-art pieces for artists, Zoë Gingell and June Cambell-Davies, excerpts of which are heard throughout the video. We are working towards re-installing the pieces in new locations in 2018. Watch this space for more details.
My boys, Despereaux have chosen another of my images as the cover of their second single release, Anomaly, from their new album, Hugging the Cactus.
The image is a 110 photograph taken on expired film with a red filter. Unedited and digitised with a neg scanner.
You can hear the fantastic single here:
I did an interview for Circuit Sweet with Despereaux discussing their new album which is out this week:
